Commercial Driver Academy Courses
will require new drivers to complete knowledge and behind-the-wheel (BTW) training before taking a CDL skills test starting February 7, 2022. The Commercial Driver Academy program meets these new requirements.

This part of the course will give you the foundational knowledge you need to be a commercial truck driver.
You must pass your air brake, general knowledge, and combination vehicles written tests to pass your permit exam before any on-road training.
- CDL Class A Range/Skills
Learn how to maneuver a large combination vehicle in confined spaces. You will learn how to use backing skills on our driving range. - Behind the Wheel Training
Once you have completed your Class A range skills, you will gain experience on public streets and roads.
Skills
After completing this program you will be able to demonstrate mastery of the following skills:
- Understand brake system operations and inspections
- Perform a pre-trip inspection
- Learn trailer specifications
- Learn coupling and uncoupling safety
- Learn driving techniques
- Learn how to back tractor-trailers
Testing
The final component of the course is scheduling and taking your CDL driver's exam. Two trips to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is included in this course as part of the course fees.
