Thomas blocked a slap shot in the opening two minutes of the third period against the Jets on Tuesday night and had two more shifts the rest of the game.
Neighbours would have been an RFA next summer without the extension and instead will remain a Blue through the 2026-27 season.
He is the first full-time successor to the legendary Charles Glenn, who retired in 2019 after singing the anthem for 19 years.
