ST. LOUIS — City prosecutors charged a 74-year-old man Tuesday with shooting his 19-year-old granddaughter in the head after an argument over cleaning their apartment.
Pierre Irving, of St. ÑÇÖÞÎÞÂë, is facing four charges, including two counts of first-degree assault, after police said he opened fire at his teen granddaughter and her mother at an apartment in the 4600 block of South Broadway.
Charges say Irving's granddaughter confronted him Monday night about keeping their shared living space clean. Irving, who had been drinking, became angry.
He retreated to his room where he grabbed a pistol, charges say. He shot at his daughter and missed but then fired again at his granddaughter, hitting her in the head, charges say.
The teen was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Tuesday's charges say the bullet was still lodged in her head.
